A NOTE FROM PASTOR ROYDON

A NOTE FROM PASTOR ROYDON

Are you praying?

Philippians 4:6-9

The Philippians were to take their concerns and burdens to God. “How many of us do that?” Jesus expects His people to pray. Before Jesus said in Matthew 6:5, 7: “When you pray. . ..” He didn’t say, “If you pray.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17: “Pray without ceasing.” How many of us do that? I think a lot fewer of us would say, yes that’s me. Peter tells us to think ahead, to “look forward to the blessings” in 1 Peter 1:13-15. He is referring to eternal life with Jesus in glory. He’s telling us this life is not all there is. That’s good news, because this life is sometimes not always great. This life has ups, but this life also has many downs. But God has promised us an incredible eternity with Him. Every problem, every challenge, every worry I can view it in light of eternity. Most of us live in the past, neglect the present, and worry about the future. We live in the past; we think about what has happened in the past, we neglect what is happening right now in our lives, and we spend an awful lot of time worrying about what is going to happen in our lives. God wants us to learn from the past, invest our present, and live for the future. What we do now effects what happens next! So, think ahead. Peter goes on to say, “Obey God because you are His children”. If we have come to that place where we have asked Him to come into our lives, then we need to obey God because we are His children. Obeying Him is easier when you are living for the future. Peter tells us we “must be holy in everything you do, just as God is holy”. The idea behind the command to “be holy” is to make it a lifestyle. It means to live a life that honours God and His purpose for our lives and we are to do this every day of the week. Philippians 4:4 says, “Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.” We can rejoice today, in this moment, knowing that He is coming soon! “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Don’t worry – talk to God instead – “What about?” about everything. Tell God what you need. But we must not only ask God for what we need but we also need to thank Him for what He has already done in your life. But notice that word “everything”. He wants to hear about our everything, about my everything. Paul is saying we are to be anxious in no - thing but praying in all things. Too often we have that the wrong way round. We are anxious about everything and praying about nothing. But Paul is saying in this passage we are to be anxious in no - thing but praying in all things. Paul wants them and us to grow in a life of familiar prayers, that is, a life of everyday communion with God, in every area. Ask God to help you look to Him, in a spirit of prayer, in all things, all throughout your day. Experience God’s peace – let Him guard your heart and mind! As a child of God, you have the wonderful privilege of going to Him as His child – talking to Him, as His child, enjoying the peace and protection of His presence. All you have to do is do it! Privately, as well as coming together as a church and praying. So, remember to attend the church prayer meetings on a Sunday morning and a Wednesday evening. Have a blessed week.

RODEO CLEANUP

RODEO CLEANUP

Good morning all,

Just a quick email with the rodeo cleanup fundraiser sign-up sheet for this year's fundraiser.

Currently, we have 2 chaplains operating at Spinifex State College, Central SS & Special School.

This year again, we are picking up rubbish and emptying bins across the 3 days for the rodeo with a minimum fundraising effort of $7,500.

We would love as much support for this fundraiser as possible, as we have had a decline in volunteers over the last few years, making it a lot of work at times for the few people helping.

The time slots are a guide; if people can help but not in those specific time slots, we would still love a form back.

A reminder that ALL volunteers GET IN FOR FREE for the day that they volunteer.

Thank you for your support; we look forward to this year's rodeo cleanup and hope that we can see you there at different times over the weekend.

Thanks and be blessed, everyone,
