A NOTE FROM PASTOR ROYDON
What is man that you are mindful of him? Psalm 8 Psalm 8 is a wonderful expression of worship, adoration, and admiration for the living God, the Creator of the universe. David looked out at a cloudless night sky and was overwhelmed at the vastness of God’s creation. There is never a hint of the false idea of the evolution of species in this psalm nor anywhere else in the Bible. David was filled with a great sense of reverence and awe, and he exclaimed in vs.1: ‘O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is your name in all the earth!’ The name of God speaks of his glorious character. His name is excellent, and we should always be careful when speaking of him. David expresses his amazement that such a great and exalted God should be mindful of man. vs.4: ‘What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you visit him?’ How very wonderful! God made man a little lower than the angels (mortal), but has crowned him with glory and honour, giving him lordship over creation. This psalm also speaks of the Lord Jesus Christ. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honour (Hebrews 2:9; 1 Corinthians 15:27). God sent his holy Son into this world, to take human flesh and to die for sinful man. What is man that you are mindful of him? Wonderful grace of God! Let us worship him and adore him! O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is your name in all the earth! (1, 8).
Joseph Hart wrote this hymn:
1. How wondrous are the works of God, Displayed through all the world abroad! Immensely great, immensely small! Yet one strange work exceeds them all. Almighty God sighed human breath! The Lord of life experienced death! How it was done we can’t discuss, But this we know, ’twas done for us.
6. Almighty God breathed human breath! The Lord of life experienced death! How could it be—Christ crucified? We simply know, for us he died.
7. Blessed with this faith, then, let us raise our hearts in love, our voice in praise; we now believe, but soon shall know the greatest glories God can show. |

RODEO CLEANUP
Good morning all, Just a quick email with the rodeo cleanup fundraiser sign-up sheet for this year's fundraiser. Currently, we have 2 chaplains operating at Spinifex State College, Central SS & Special School. This year again, we are picking up rubbish and emptying bins across the 3 days for the rodeo with a minimum fundraising effort of $7,500. We would love as much support for this fundraiser as possible, as we have had a decline in volunteers over the last few years, making it a lot of work at times for the few people helping. The time slots are a guide; if people can help but not in those specific time slots, we would still love a form back. A reminder that ALL volunteers GET IN FOR FREE for the day that they volunteer. Thank you for your support; we look forward to this year's rodeo cleanup and hope that we can see you there at different times over the weekend. Thanks and be blessed, everyone,

2026 VOLUNTEER SITE INDUCTION
Please find above a QR code to the induction that rodeo needs completed. I have also included the link to the form in the button below. Below is a note from Mischa: Each person needs to complete their own, and if under 18, they do have a 'Parent or Guardian' spot to put those details. This is for rodeos induction and safety. Please ensure you select you’re volunteering for a 'Community Group or Club' and then choose 'Mt Isa School Chaplaincy'. It's a quick induction, and each completed one shows just how many volunteers we have for us. Also, I believe volunteers will get a shirt to wear this year. Thanks for your support of school chaplaincy's biggest fundraiser, For more infomation visit:

SCHOOL CHAPLAINS NEEDED
There are vacancies at Barkly Highway State School and Mount Isa School of the Air. These can be 2 day positions up to 5-day combined positions. School Chaplains work within the schools alongside other support people like guidance counsellors, youth support co-ordinators and admin staff. They run programs like weekly Breakfast programs, 1st break activities, Religious Instruction help, Mother's Day activities, Chappy lounge after school for staff and parent support options, Bella girls program for Year 10 girls, student council support and multicultural event support. On top of this, they may do 1 on 1 student support, sit in classrooms to assist teachers with hard classrooms, and more. They are Jesus to the school, in the most holistic sense of the word. A light in the schools, a faith-filled member who students, staff, and parents can all utilise when they need someone to talk to. |
