A NOTE FROM PASTOR ROYDON
Secret of contentment Paul, in his letter to the Philippians, provides a profound insight into the nature of contentment. He writes, "I know how to live humbly, and I know how to abound. I am accustomed to any and every situation—to being filled and being hungry, to having plenty and having need. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength" (Philippians 4:12-13). Here, Paul emphasizes that true contentment is not dependent on material abundance but on the strength and sufficiency found in Christ. In 1 Timothy 6:6-8, Paul further instructs, "Of course, godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and neither can we carry anything out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with these”. This passage highlights the transient nature of earthly possessions and the importance of finding contentment in the essentials provided by God. The Old Testament also offers wisdom on contentment. In Proverbs 30:8-9, the writer prays, "Keep falsehood and lies far from me. Give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the bread that is my portion. Otherwise, I may have too much and deny You, saying, 'Who is the LORD?' Or I may become poor and steal, profaning the name of my God”. This prayer reflects a desire for a balanced life, free from the extremes that might lead one away from reliance on God. Contentment is trusting in God's care and provision. True contentment is not complacency, nor is it the absence of ambition. Rather, it is the ability to remain peaceful, thankful, and joyful regardless of circumstances. It flows from knowing that God is our source and that He is faithful to meet our needs. Contentment is not merely a passive acceptance of one's circumstances but an active expression of faith. It involves a conscious decision to focus on the eternal rather than the temporal. Moreover, contentment fosters a spirit of gratitude and generosity. When believers are content, they are more likely to share their resources with others, reflecting the love and grace of God. It also guards against the destructive forces of envy and greed, promoting peace and unity within the Christian community. Contentment does not happen naturally; it must be cultivated by intentional trust in God. Contentment is a process of growth, not an automatic response to life. Spiritual maturity includes learning to be satisfied with the essentials. Your worth is not measured by what you own, but by your relationship with God. Contentment thrives where there is a strong faith in God’s provision and care. Psalm 23:1 – The Lord Is My Shepherd; I Shall Not Want. God’s sufficiency should give you rest from worry and covetousness. Matthew 6:31–33 – Seek First the Kingdom, and God Will Provide. When God is first, provision follows. Hebrews 13:5 – Be Content with What You Have; God Will Never Leave You. Security is not found in things, but in God’s abiding presence. James 1:17 – Every Good Gift Comes from God. Recognise every blessing as a gift from a faithful Father. A contented heart is anchored in eternal priorities. Colossians 3:2 – Set Your Mind on Things Above, Not on Earth. What you focus on determines your peace and satisfaction. Matthew 6:19–21 – Store Up Treasures in Heaven. Earthly possessions are temporary, but eternal riches last forever. Proverbs 23:4–5 – Don’t Wear Yourself Out to Get Rich. Pursue purpose, not pressure, and peace instead of possessions. PRAYER POINTS: Lord, teach me to be content in all seasons of life. Father, help me to trust You fully as my Shepherd and Provider. Fill my heart with gratitude for what You’ve already done. Help me to set my affections on eternal treasures, not earthly gain. |

RODEO CLEANUP
Good morning all, Just a quick email with the rodeo cleanup fundraiser sign-up sheet for this year's fundraiser. Currently, we have 2 chaplains operating at Spinifex State College, Central SS & Special School. This year again, we are picking up rubbish and emptying bins across the 3 days for the rodeo with a minimum fundraising effort of $7,500. We would love as much support for this fundraiser as possible, as we have had a decline in volunteers over the last few years, making it a lot of work at times for the few people helping. The time slots are a guide; if people can help but not in those specific time slots, we would still love a form back. A reminder that ALL volunteers GET IN FOR FREE for the day that they volunteer. Thank you for your support; we look forward to this year's rodeo cleanup and hope that we can see you there at different times over the weekend. Thanks and be blessed, everyone,

SCHOOL CHAPLAINS NEEDED
There are vacancies at Barkly Highway State School and Mount Isa School of the Air. These can be 2 day positions up to 5-day combined positions. School Chaplains work within the schools alongside other support people like guidance counsellors, youth support co-ordinators and admin staff. They run programs like weekly Breakfast programs, 1st break activities, Religious Instruction help, Mother's Day activities, Chappy lounge after school for staff and parent support options, Bella girls program for Year 10 girls, student council support and multicultural event support. On top of this, they may do 1 on 1 student support, sit in classrooms to assist teachers with hard classrooms, and more. They are Jesus to the school, in the most holistic sense of the word. A light in the schools, a faith-filled member who students, staff, and parents can all utilise when they need someone to talk to. |
