A NOTE FROM PASTOR ROYDON
Palm Sunday Imagine the streets of Jerusalem two thousand years ago — the air filled with the sound of cheering voices, palm branches waving in the sunlight, and people laying their cloaks on the road. They were welcoming a king — but not the kind of king they expected. If Jesus walked into Mount Isa today, how would we welcome Him? Palm Sunday reminds us that true greatness often comes in humility. Jesus entered the city not on a warhorse, but on a donkey — a symbol of peace. The crowd shouted with joy, yet within days, many would turn away. This moment challenges us to ask: Do we follow Jesus only in moments of celebration, or also in times of challenge? Palm Sunday is a reminder that God’s way is often unexpected. The King of Kings came in gentleness, not force. He came to serve, not to be served. And He calls us to do the same — to bring hope where there is despair, to bring peace where there is conflict, and to bring love where there is fear. Application - Choose humility over pride — in our homes, workplaces, and communities. - Stay faithful in all seasons — not just when it’s easy or popular. - Be a voice of peace — in a world that often shouts with anger. Palm Sunday is not just a story from the past — it’s an invitation for today. Let us welcome Christ into our lives, not just with words, but with actions that reflect His love, peace, and humility. As we wave our “palms” in our hearts today, let’s prepare the road for Him — not with branches, but with lives that reflect His kingdom. |

UPDATE FROM COOKTOWN BAPTIST CHURCH
Cooktown Baptist has let us know that half of the roof has been repaired - and looks great! However, when the second half of the roof was lifted, it was discovered that there is extensive rot damage in the wall that will need to be rectified before the roof can be completed. Please keep the congregation in your prayers as they navigate the process of making a plan to move forward. |
